The Hands That Keep Me Standing

This week is for my husband. The man who keeps me going on the days I want to quit. And for every person in your life quietly doing the same thing... whether you've noticed yet or not.
Last week I wrote about burnout.
About feeling like I was drowning. Like I was carrying too much and dropping pieces of myself everywhere just trying to keep up.
And if I'm being honest... I still feel that this week. But something shifted.
Not the workload. Not the chaos. Not any of the things that had me underwater.
Just... me. Slowing down long enough to actually look at who's standing next to me while I'm falling apart.
And it's him. It's always him.
My husband.
I don't even know how to write this without crying. Because I don't know if I have ever even told him how much I truly appreciate everything he does for me. He doesn't just help me he holds me together. Quietly. Consistently. Without ever making me feel like a burden for needing it.
He notices when I'm running on empty before I even open my mouth. He steps in without being asked. He unloads the car after a long pop-up. He handles the kids. He listens to every spiral, every doubt, every 10pm idea that I'm already half-convinced is terrible before I even finish saying it out loud.
He does the laundry at midnight so nobody has to go without. He sits beside me on the nights I have nothing left. Not trying to fix it. Just... there. Because he knows sometimes that's all I need.
He sends the "you've got this" text right before a pop-up when I'm already a nervous wreck and somehow it's the only thing that makes me feel like maybe I actually do. He loves me through the chaos instead of resenting it. And I think that's the part that gets me most.
Because this isn't always easy to love. The late nights. The stress. The way my brain never fully turns off. The business taking up physical space in our home and mental space in every conversation. The version of me that is exhausted and overwhelmed and still somehow wants to keep going. He loves that version too. He never makes me feel like I'm too much. I don't know if he fully understands what that does for me. I don't know if I've ever actually told him.
So I'm telling him now. And I'm telling you too, because I think we don't talk about this part enough.
The person who stays. Who shows up on the hard days not just the good ones. Who sacrifices their own rest, their own time, their own needs... and does it without complaint. Without keeping score. Who misses things and gives things up and carries extra weight you don't even always see, all because they love you and they believe in what you're building even on the days you've stopped believing in it yourself. Who doesn't need credit or recognition. Who just quietly keeps doing the next thing.
That person is everything.
He is everything.
And behind every shirt I've pressed, every event I've survived, every moment I almost gave up and didn't... he's part of the reason I'm still standing.
I don't want to forget that.
I don't want to get so caught up in everything still left to do that I stop seeing the person right next to me helping me do it.
If you have someone like that in your life... tell them. Today. Don't wait until you're writing about it.
I should have told him sooner.
